About Donegal Connect

Welcome to Donegal Connect!

September 27th to October 6th 2019

Donegal Connect is a collaborative project between the private and public sector in Donegal aimed at creating new opportunities for our county.

Through the project we want to engage with our Diaspora, both overseas and within Ireland, and anyone considering coming to Ireland, to entice them to make the journey to Donegal to explore the county and to find out why it is a wonderful county to visit, to invest in, to live in and be educated in.

While our focus is on generating new economic opportunities for Donegal, Donegal Connect which takes place over a ten day period from September 27th to October 6th 2019 has something for everyone. With world renowned Donegal artists playing at iconic venues throughout the county, Donegal plays being performed, a range of business, investment and skills symposia with key speakers to walks, runs, island visits and a 7 a-side competition, to workshops on genealogy and the practical “ins and outs” of returning to Donegal there is definitely something for everyone not to mention the unique food experiences being specially organised as part of the project.

Of special note will be a facilitated workshop with our Donegal Associations and networks both oversees and within Ireland on Friday October 4th in the Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey. We hope to share good practice experiences, discuss current and future challenge and identify solutions and opportunities.

We are delighted that we have the support of a range of Donegal Connect ambassadors who are working with us to support and drive the project. These include Paul Mc Ginley, Packie Bonner, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh to name but a few.

As well as having the involvement and support of a strong  local committee which includes Donegal County Council, Letterkenny Institute of Technology, Udaras na Gaeltachta, IDA Ireland, the Local Enterprise Office, the Food Coast, Pramerica, Abbots Diabetes care and Randox, the tourism sector and local businesses, the project is also supported by Fáilte Ireland under the Global Irish Initiative.

Fáilte go Nasc Dún na nGall!

September 27th to October 6th 2019

Is é atá i Nasc Dhún na nGall ná togra comhoibrithe idir an earnáil phríobháideach agus an earnáil phoiblí i nDún na nGall agus é de chuspóir aige deiseanna úra a chruthú don chontae s’againne. Tríd an togra seo ba mhaith linn nascadh leis an Diaspóra s’againn, bíodh siad thar lear nó anseo in Éirinn, agus nascadh le daoine atá ag smaointiú ar theacht go hÉirinn, chun iad a spreagadh agus a ghríosú leis an turas a dhéanamh go Dún na nGall le haithne agus eolas a chur ar an chontae seo agus a fháil amach cad chuige ar contae iontach é le seal a chaitheamh ann, infheistíocht a dhéanamh ann, cónaí a dhéanamh ann, agus oideachas a fháil ann.

Cé go bhfuil muid ag cur béim ar leith ar dheiseanna úra eacnamaíochta a chruthú do Dhún na nGall, tá rud éigin ann d’achan duine sa tréimhse deich lá a bheas á reáchtáil ag Nasc Dhún na nGall ón 27 Meán Fómhair go dtí 6 Deireadh Fómhair. I measc na n-imeachtaí a bheas ar siúl beidh ceoltóirí clúiteacha ó Dhún na nGall ag seinm in ionaid éagsúla ar fud an chontae; drámaí á leiriú ar stáitsí; siompóisiamaí le haoichainteoirí ar chúrsaí gnó, ar infheistíocht agus ar scileanna; chomh maith le siúlóidí, rásanna, cuairteanna ar oileáin, comórtas seachtar-an-taobh, ceardlanna ar an ghinealas, agus ceisteanna praiticiúla a bhaineann le pilleadh ar Dhún na nGall, gan trácht ar na himeachtaí ar leith bia atá á reáchtáil go speisialta mar chuid den togra.

Is fiú tagairt ar leith a dhéanamh don cheardlann éascaithe a bheas ar siúl i gcomhpháirt le Cumainn agus Líonraí an chontae, bíodh siad lonnaithe thar lear nó anseo in Éirinn, Dé hAoine 4 Deireadh Fómhair in Óstán an Villa Rose, Bealach Féich. Tá súil againn samplaí den dea-chleachtas a chomhroinnt, plé a dhéanamh ar na dúshláin atá romhainn anois agus san am atá theacht, agus roinnt réiteach agus deiseanna a aithint.
Tá lúcháir orainn go bhfuil tacaíocht faighte againn ó roinnt ambasadóirí de chuid Nasc Dhún na nGall, atá ag obair i gcomhpháirt linn leis an togra a chur chun cinn agus a fhorbairt. Ina measc seo ta Paul McGinley, Packie Bonner, agus Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, gan ach cuid acu a lua.

Sa bhreis ar an tacaíocht atá ar fáil don togra ó choiste láidir áitiúil ar a bhfuil Comhairle Contae Dhún na nGall, Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Leitir Ceanainn, Údarás na Gaeltachta, An tÚdaras Forbartha Tionscail, An Oifig Fiontair Áitiúil, An Cósta Bia, Pramerica, Cúram Diaibéitis Abbot, agus Randox, tá tacaíocht á fáil ag an togra fosta ó Fáilte Éireann faoi Thionscnamh Domhanda na hÉireann.
